Greg Downey

» Grudge Match (GD vs JOC remix & J.Suckley remix)

Label: Goodgreef Digital
Format: Digital
Genre: Trance

Arriving in my inbox this week was a rather professional looking from Goodgreef Digital, with Greg Downey’s track Grudge Match getting a couple of remixes firstly with Greg teaming up with JOC and then the labels head honcho Jordan Suckley busts out his J.Suckley guise.

Firstly Jordan’s remix has already been played by Radio One’s king of hard dance Kutski, so that’s without doubt a mark of class. It’s a more driving and techy affair which will find favour amongst those fans of the sound. The production is crystal clear with a driving harder bassline, we are then treated to an almighty hands in the air breakdown. The main riff is wonderfully trancy, and leads brilliantly into the drop back into that driving percussion. Its certainly a track with a darker edge to it, but will certainly find favour with many.

For me the GD vs. JOC remix sees Greg and John turn on the style. Leaning much more towards the trancier side of things. The feel of the track is that bit happier and lighter than Jordan’s remix. Building beautifully to the hands in the air riff that we are treated to. The wheel isn’t be reinvented, and this isn’t going to be any sort of cross over smash hit, but as far as good old trance goes this is perfect. Exactly what you want with production to rival the best, simple and up lifting rift, this one will be getting support from all the usual big names and myself for sure.

A real treat of a remix package in my opinion. Both tracks will have a place in my cd wallet and I think they will cater for different moods, a worthy purchase, 8/10.
