» We Dare The Radio Stations To Playlist Our Record, They Say It’s Noisy, We Say They’re Lazy

Reviewed by Paul Divine / Submitted 08-09-04 02:18

Label: Nukleuz
Format: 12" Vinyl
Genre: Hard House

This is certainly a track with a message as the title suggests. As the vinyl states, “Radio constantly plays bland middle of the road tracks as directives from middle aged men who wouldn’t know a club if it was snorted up their nose.” Cracked Logic, as well as being talented producers is also on mission to change the playlists of radio stations around the globe.

Usually with most records you have a side you prefer, however both sides on this occasion are strong dance floor filla’s. The A side’s “Bendin’ Mix” is a hard bouncy track with a sort of distorted Joy Energizer break. One of the tracks strong points is the bouncy second break, much like the one in Klubbheads 2001 track “Kickin’ Hard” with it’s off beat base line. The title is rapped throughout the song by Paul Simpson and really fits in well with the overall track.

The B Sides “Poppin’ Mix” is a nice alternative to the A side. It’s a slightly more progressive driving track with a hard Steve Murano “whompy” type base line. It has a very funky break beat break with an original high pitch melody over the top of it, which is repeated towards the end. As with the “Bendin’ Mix” the catchy rap runs throughout it which makes the track feel a little harder.

I think that between the two remixes there is something for everyone. The only criticism I have is that for a track as hard as this it is very slow. For it to slot nicely into a set with similar style tunes you really need the pitch as high as it will go, even then it still could do with being faster. Other than this Nukleuz have done it again with another stormer of a release which is available now. I’m sure this track will have a place in most Hard House Dj’s boxes and I look forward to hearing more productions from Cracked Logic’s Greg Brookman and Peter Pritchard.

It's slow because they're trying to cross it over. Good tune though.

I don't think it's too slow at all. It's big and chunky. Doesn't have to be fast. IMO, that would spoil it.

I heard this tune a few days ago and I must admit it is quite good. The title's funny as well. Laughs out loud

I really don't like this tune. It strikes me that Nukleuz are releasing a record that is just trying to gain cheap radio plays for its 'quirkyness'..... It's been done before with Jon Doe's 'John Peel is not enough'.
A shame really for a record label which otherwise has been releasing top quality stuff recently.

Personally I reckon it's shit. Just not my style.
