Scott Attrill’s label Riot! just keep the albums coming! The next installment of ‘Filthy House For Dirty Stopouts 2’ is on the way, mixed by himself and the legendary BK. We talk to Scott ahead of the release to find out what this albums all about!
Hi Scott! How are you, and what have you been up to lately?
I am writing this for you while on a break in the studio, just finishing a track and mixing down another so it’s all go. We had the last Riot! event at The End nightclub last weekend too as it's closing so that was a lot of work. As well as that I’ve been DJing and running the labels so a very busy time.
‘Filthy House For Dirty Stopouts 2’ is mixed by yourself and BK, can you tell us a about that?
Sure, the album is all about the best releases from Riot! and Traffic over the last few years as well as featuring many brand new unreleased tracks that will be available on the labels this year. Both mixes sound great and the response from the promos and press has been amazing so I’m really exited about it, we also tied in the album launch party with our last event at the End too.
The album features all of the big guns in the hard Dance scene; did you have a certain criteria for picking the tracks?
I kind of knew what I wanted from my mix, my sound is quite tech driven and progresses through hard dance with a dirty, twisted edge to it. I start it off with tracks from the likes of Judge, Jules, Future Disciple, BK & Garbo and then pump it up a notch with offerings from myself, Avaline, Anne Savage right through to the Organ Donors – Rock on!
You recently DJ’d at Riot! party at The End nightclub, which will be closing this week, any funny stories from the night?
I actually don’t remember too much from the second half of the day to be honest, I do know however that my feet are still killing me due to some relentless stomping from the great tunes being played all day. I do remember dancing to Anne Savage’s final track ‘The Pod’ which we wrote together; I was going for it a bit too much and knocked the cue button that stopped the track, lol. It was all good though as it just meant we got another chance to listen from the start.
Top 3 tracks your playing right now?
1. Scott Attrill – Mega
2. BK – Revolution – BK 09 Remix
3. ChuckE & Vandall – Sweet Harmony
What’s your favorite technology gadget at the minute?
I’ve not picked anything up recently, still addicted to my Nintendo Wii though, the hours fly by on that thing!
You’re up for quite a few awards at the Hard Dance awards in February, is it important for you to win them?
I think its nice to be recognised for what you do so in that respect it’s a good thing to win one, I don’t think to much about it though.
You released your first album last year ‘Bass Junkie’ can we expect another one anytime soon?
I am currently working on a number of tracks at the moment and deciding if I should put another artist album together, it’s a very strong possibility.
What is your worst habit?
Forgetting stuff, my keys, phone, headphones, even my laptop.
Any messages for your fans?
Massive thanks to everyone for supporting me over the last year and coming to see me play, supporting my tracks and the ‘Bass Junkie’ album. It’s been a brilliant year so lets hope 2009 can be even better.
