May sees One celebrating one year at the Southside Bar and, to celebrate this special achievement, we felt we had to have a bit of a party. And what a party we have for you this month.
Opening things up downstairs we’ve got the fantastic Si-125. A regular on the London club scene, especially with Heat, his unique blend of tough, driving house will get things grooving nicely along downstairs for our second guest, Lawrence Bucknell. Lawrence is no stranger to One but this is his first go in a warm up slot. Warm ups are always tricky but after seeing some fantastic early sets from him recently, not least of all for Friendz, we’re confident he’ll work things up nicely with some quality, melodic trance.
Moving things up a gear will be the first of the residents, K.A.R.L. Expect an hour of driving, euphoric, exceptionally danceable trance.
And then comes the first of our birthday presents. Billy Daniel Bunter has been around for a little while and is hugely respected across the UK and internationally. Having played since he was 15 at raves and moving from hardcore through nearly every other musical style, there’s no-one better placed to do a classic trance set. Expect those memories to come flooding back with an hour and a half of absolute stormers.
Bridging the gap from classic to hard trance is the second resident, Conrad. He’ll be upping the pace with some big room tough trance just in time for the second of our special guests.
Marc French needs no introduction. A resident DJ with Heat as well as having played at events ranging from The Cook in Acton to 10,000 people on Clapham Common for SW4, the guy knows how to work a crowd of any size. He’ll be closing this, his debut appearance at the Southside Bar, with some extra special tuneage.
And we haven’t forgotten about upstairs either.
Playing that all important first set is a One regular and Kurruptions leading lady, Zoelee. As talented at DJing as she is at promoting, she’s someone we can always rely on to get things going. Following on from here we welcome back Comfortably Numb’s regord. Versatile enough to play early or late (as he did for us in April, and he rocked it), this man has a record collection to die for and he’s not afraid to use it.
Our third resident and the first to play upstairs, Charlie Veron has the job of following that pair and build things up and he always does a supremely solid job.
Our next guest is Snake. Someone that’s got a huge amount of experience playing up from big parties like Riot and Oblivion down to smaller scale parties like Warped we’ve never seen him disappoint. Capable of playing “across the board hard dance” as well as “Sexy Funky Dirty House & Breaks” we’re pleased to have him down for his debut with us.
The last of our residents, Mad Records’ Anthony Sergeant will be rocking the upstairs bar as the sun goes down with a blend of filthy house, electro funk and dirty techno which always goes down a storm.
Next up is Frantic and Peach regular and Squelcher resident, Benz. He’ll be tearing things up in a filthy and dirty, broken way right in time for our closing guest, Proactive’s Alex Parsons. An extremely talented DJ and producer with an ear for a groove, whether it’s hard or housey, we know he’ll round things off nicely.
And it’s all free! We’ll be having the usual 2 for 1 cocktails before 7, free shots later on in the night, £3 for a double vodka and red bull all night as well as £3 for a pair of Stellas or Staropramens.
And, as it’s our anniversary, the party doesn’t end there!
At 11pm we’ll be rounding up the troops and heading down to Innovate at the Fridge where we’ll be hosting the Ice box from midnight until 6am. Charlie Veron, 2 Phunked Up, K.A.R.L., Conrad and DJ Peludo will be taking you on a journey from tough, tough house all the way through the hard, hard trance.
Combine that with the main room line-up of Andy Farley, Nick Sentience, Phil Reynolds, James Lawson, Simon Rutherford and Mike Harris B2B with Andy T and we think we’ve got something a little bit special.
Plus! We’ll be giving out concession passes at One that’ll get you into the fridge for only £10! That’s a saving of £8 on the door price.
We’ll see you at the Southside.
