Just when you thought the funk couldn’t get any funkier, City Loud invites down Junior Jack & Kid Crème - two of house music’s newest superstars, to turn on the charm at City Loud’s summer special on Saturday 19th June.
Junior Jack, otherwise known as Vito Lucente, was born in Italy but has been residing in Brussels ever since his parents moved to Belgium when he was a teenager. Vito first tasted success as Junior Jack with "My Feeling" on PIAS recordings back in 2000, but it was his next release, the classic bass-line monster and City Loud anthem “Thrill Me” in 2002 that secured his arrival on the world stage. With “Thrill Me”, Vito firmly established the distinctive sound of the irresistible pumping bassline that has become one of the Junior Jack trademarks, that we all know and love!! At the start of 2003, Vito topped the UK singles chart with “Make Luv”, a remake of Oliver Cheatham’s 1983 hit ‘Saturday Night’ released under the name Room 5 on his own label Noisetraxx. The single kept the No.1 position for 4 weeks - making it one of the most successful dance tracks ever in the UK. Back to Junior Jack now and the follow up to “Thrill Me” came in the shape of “E Samba” – the summer tune of 2003. “E Samba” was voted the summer anthem of 2003 by DJ Magazine at the Ibiza awards, where Junior Jack and Kid Crème also picked up the award of Best Newcomer DJ’s. Vito has since released “Da Hype” to further acclaim, followed by his debut artist album, “Trust It”… and trust us, the album rocks just as much as this guy does behind the decks!!
Joining Junior Jack and also making his City Loud debut in the process will be partner in crime Kid Crème. Born Nicholas Scaravilli to an Italian family in Brussels, Kid Crème spent his early years learning to spin Hip Hop and study music theory & classic piano (I bet he didn’t realize how handy this would later become later on in life??!!) It was whilst working as an assistant engineer at Let’s Go Studios that Kid Crème met Junior Jack and his mix of Boom on Drop Dead caught Boy George’s eye, before he went onto remix Junior Vasquez and Topazz. His first production under the name Kid Creme was “Austin's Groove”. Licensed it to Ink Records in the UK and Subliminal in the US, Eric Morillo then added a Shawnee Taylor vocal on the record and it blew up big time on dancefloor’s around the world. His follow up track “Hypnotising” (another huge City Loud anthem!) was signed to Positiva and charted well in the UK charts, before Kid Crème remixed Shakedown’s “At Night” - his profile again soaring to new heights (Kylie personally asked him to remix her single Love At First Sight!!). On the DJing side of things, you can catch Kid Crème (and Junior Jack) spinning the house music they so love throughout the world’s biggest hotspots.
Joining the boys for their City Loud debut and armed with some good ol’ fashioned funk and soul will be our exclusive London resident, former DMC Champion and Pump Up The Volume hero – CJ Mackintosh to bring the night home!! CJ’s back to play the final set of the night alongside the first lady of house Lottie, who celebrates her Birthday with a special celebratory set at the club where it all began for her back in 1995 at The Gallery. Soulful house lover and City Loud fave Richard M will be back to get the party rocking early on with the whole of Room 2 devoted to the deep house sounds of Estonia’s Rulers of the Deep aka Vibe Residents – one of Roger Sanchez’s favourite producers (their “DJs Calling” anthem is on the Release Yourself compilation). This DJ/Production/Remix duo (DJ Meri and DJ P.Julm) were residents at ‘Vibe’ – the most talked about event in Estonia and as Rulers of the Deep they went on remix KOT’s “Finally” for Defected. Other remix credits include Shakedown “At Night”, Il Padrino’s feat. Jocelyn Brown “That’s how good your love is” and most recently Mood2Swing “Can’t Get Away From You”. Rulers of the Deep will be showcasing Tallinn Express on the night – their Friday night show transmitted live in Estonia, Russia and Finland.
A truly immense night awaits us all…….
