WALLY LOPEZ (Spain)
(DJ Mag Top 100)
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Born in San Blas in Madrid, 1976, Angel David López started his
career as a DJ and radio presenter at the early age of
thirteen. He broadcast his sessions, an innovative programme
specializing in dance music from Top Radio (Spain) in the early
mornings of the weekend.

Wally, a pioneer of house music in Spain, started his career as
a producer in 2000 by launching the label Weekend Records
and remixing artists such as Tiësto, Marco V, Valentino
Kanzyani, Dirty Vegas, Bob Sinclar and Robbie Riviera. Many of
his records have been released by labels including Defected,
Underwater, Yoshitoshi and Subliminal. In the same year he
produced his first international hit ‘Amman’, followed by
‘Patricia Never Leaves the House’ (both remixes have been
relaunched under La Factoria recently) and ‘Disco Night’,
played all over the globe by DJs Pete Tong, Hernan Cattaneo
and Steve Lawler. The latter even dubbed him as ‘The Man of
the Moment’…

In 2001 Wally launched, La Factoria as well as a more
underground sub-label called Formula Records. Recently Lopez
(together with his colleagues Ismael Rivas and Iván Pica)
added a new label called FatXL. The three labels form part of
the Factonomia Group which Wally presides, and operates as a
management agency, management label and Tremenda
clothing store in Madrid.

To date La Factoria has released more than thirty titles of
great international acclaim, such as ‘Love Time’, ‘Strike Me
Down’ and more recently ‘Planet Earth’, ‘Burning Inside’ or
‘Close to Me’. The last two were number one for many weeks
on the Maxima 51 chart of Maxima FM – the most important
dance chart in Spain. Wally’s radio show on Maxima FM has
more than 340,000 listeners each Friday and is also broadcast
in English in Belgium, France, Italy and Russia.

In 2004, on an uncomfortable train trip from Madrid to
Valencia, Wally created his remix for David Guetta’s ‘Just A
Little More Love’. The track turned into a world hit and the
Spaniard became the undisputed winner at the Ibiza DJ Awards
2004. In this year he started his residency at Pacha Ibiza.
Later he gained residencies at Discotèque and Pacha in
Barcelona, Red Light and The Mix in Paris and Ministry of
Sound in London. He appeared at festivals including the 10th
Anniversary of Creamfields Liverpool, Creamfields Buenos Aires,
Global Gathering, Exit Festival, Weekend Dance, Rock in Rio,
Monegros Desert Festival and Creamfields Andalusia, finally
achieving his current summer residency who many consider the
best in the world, Space Ibiza for the Be@Space parties.

Wally had the honour to have been the first Spanish DJ to be
invited to play at a Madonna concert (Seville 08). He has a
loyal following which has grown over the past 18 years, as well
as recognition and respect from many professionals in his field.
Oakley and Vueling Airlines are two of his main partners and he
collaborates with dance4life in their fight against AIDS; lending
his image and total support to the cause as one of the
projects he personally considers the most important and
useful.

:: TRAFIK (UK) :: Global Underground ::
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Trafik is the foremost band to come from Loft Music. With
continued success to date, including the releas of two of their
own artist albums on the world’s biggest independent dance
label Global Underground. Trafik has also compiled and mixed
no less than 19 albums for the GU label leading to sales in
excess of 1 Million units. Their music has gained respect from
the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, The Plump DJs and Deep
Dish. Added to that Dave Seaman (Kylie Minogue’s producer on
‘Confide In Me’), UNKLE and Tilt have all commissioned killer
Trafik remixes in recent years.

Trafik are Andrew Archer and John Elliott. Andrew found fame
as one part of the Forth achieving huge notoriety re-mixing
the top 40 hit: BT ‘Loving You More’. Andrew, with the aid of
DJ partner Scott Dawson then developed the Forth as an all-
conquering DJ outfit that would see them travel to the four
corners of the globe. One memorable moment being Andrew’s
show on the Great Wall of China, this was the first
performance by a western DJ in China; contrary to a claim
made by a certain Mr. Oakenfold.
Then came the release of the Forth’s debut EP ‘Reality
Detached’, described by DJ Hyper, as his favourite track of all
time. Also featuring on this EP was a destructive club track
‘Solavox’ featuring vocals from a certain John Elliott. Previous
to this first meeting of minds for the Trafik boys, John had
been living the life of a rock band member since leaving school
at the tender age of 16 to tour with the widely loved British
indie band Solavox. John experienced the highs and lows of
the music industry. With no regrets though, time on the road
gave John an education in the world of live music, where he
learned to not only sing live but play guitar both axe and bass,
keyboards and a ‘bit of drums!’; raw and crucial experience
that cannot be taught anywhere else. Trafik’s unique sound
was thus created, combining the DJing and programming skills
of Andrew and the live ability and production skills of John.
The cutting edge live show uses a mixture of keyboards,
computers, synths, sfx, controllers and mixing desks, and is
then followed by a rocking DJ set of exclusives, bootlegs and
underground anthems.
